About us

Why Good Craic?

In Irish slang, “good craic” means good company, good stories, and good times. That’s the spirit behind every batch of our jerky. We believe the best snacks are made with love, character, and a bit of fire—and they’re meant to be shared.

Our Story

Good Craic began in South Western Australia, after Rob stepped away from a busy working life and into something rarer: time. Time for long lunches, shared stories, salty air, and food that actually means something. Out here, life slows down by design. You eat local because you know the farmer. You cook for people you care about. You don’t rush a good thing.

Food has always been our way of showing up for the people we love. Making something by hand, getting it right, learning the craft—not for applause, but because the experience matters. The balance of flavour. The texture. The moment it’s opened, shared, and talked about. Good food celebrates good company. That’s the heart of Good Craic.

The spark was simple. Rob realised how much his son was paying for beef jerky that was… fine. Expensive, forgettable, and gone in a minute. Mediocre at best. And in that moment, Rob knew exactly what to do next.

If it was going to be eaten, it should be worth eating.

A Family Business

Rob Graham, Emily Cave, and their dog Scout live in Cowaramup, WA. Rob and Emily both spent their early lives traveling world-wide as international school teachers and eventually school principals.

From teaching kids, to leading schools or building an online recruitment platform, everything Rob and Emily put their effort into is a labor of love.

As a lifelong learner and constant creator, mastering jerky-making was an obvious next step to Rob’s delicious smoked briskets and homemade pastrami. Of course, all creative genius needs a sidekick to support logistics, contribute ideas, and generally clean up after. The number one fan of this dynamic duo is Scout, their adorable Bordoodle who watches their every move; sometimes with judgement, mostly with adoration. It’s the perfect team for a good craic any day of the week… Rob creates. Emily assists. Scout supervises.

Even the taste-testers are family. Rob’s son Matthew, as the inspiration, is Head Taste-tester. Trying beef jerky for the first time in her 90’s Rob’s mum became a Good Craic Addict along with his nephew Ben, all the family in Australia, and Emily’s family in the United States.

From our family to yours, we are sharing the love one bite at a time.
